Applying for a Primary School Place in September

The school admission procedure is administered by St Helens Local Authority.

Nursery Applications - available throughout the year - dependent upon uptake.  We take morning and/or afternoon Nursery children with 15 or 30 hours free.

 

Full Nursery Wrap Around Available

Early childhood education takes place in our Nursery, from 8.40am until 11.40am and 12.30pm till 3.30pm. If we have places available after the September intake, we can take children in the Spring Term (January) and Summer Term (April) this being in the term following the child’s third birthday.  30 hour places run from 8:40am to 2:50pm.  Breakfast Club is available for Nursery children from 7.45am until 8.40am.  After School Club is available from 3.30pm to 5.30pm. Children who attend for 30 hours can pay a top up of £1 per day to stay until 3:30pm. Please contact the school office for more information.

Application forms for Nursery are available from the school office or from St Helens Admissions Department in Atlas House. Parents may contact the school at any time to arrange a visit or to request further information.

 

Local Authority Nursery Intake

January, April and September 2022 Nursery Admission

If your child turns three after 31 August 2021 and you wish to apply for January, April or September 2022 Nursery Admission, the online application system has now closed but you can still apply by downloading a paper application form direct from the admissions section of the St Helens Website or, alternatively, email schooladmissions@sthelens.gov.uk and we will send you an application form in the post.

  • Read the Nursery Education Booklet, which contains useful information about the application process, including how places will be allocated, definition of home address and how late applications will be dealt with.
  • Clarify any issues you are not sure about with staff in the School Admissions Team on 01744 671035 or email schooladmissions@sthelens.gov.ukss.

 

Primary Applications

Local Authority Primary Applications for September 2022 – You can apply online. Closing date for applications is 15th January 2022. Visits are warmly welcomed to see our school in action for prospective parents. Just contact the school office on 01744 678493 to arrange a visit, all welcome!

Local Authority Secondary Applications for September 2022 – You will receive letters from St Helens Council when it is time to apply online. Applications will need to be completed and returned by 31st October 2021.

The school does not allocate places; all places are allocated by the LA against the admission criteria.

Read the Primary Education Booklet which contains useful information about the application process including: how places will be allocated, definition of home address and how late applications will be dealt with. 

Consider how your child will get to school and the potential transport costs.

Appeals Procedure

School Admission Appeals for St Helens Council

If your child is not offered a place at your preferred school, you have a right to appeal against that decision to an Independent Appeals Panel. Information on how you can appeal will be sent in the decision letter. Appeal hearings are held during the working day but they are not held during the school holidays. You will receive written notification of the date, time and arrangements for your appeal no later than 10 school days before the hearing. 

Reception Year 2022 Appeals Timetable

The National Offer Day (when decisions are emailed or posted to parents) is 16 April 2022. The deadline for lodging appeals is 21 May 2022 (appeals will be heard within 40 school days of this deadline). Appeal hearings will be scheduled throughout June and July. Appeals not received by the deadline may have to be heard in September. 

Year 7 September 2022 Appeals Timetable

The National Offer Day (when decisions were emailed or posted to parents) was 1 March 2022. The deadline for lodging appeals is 2 April 2022 (appeals will be heard within 40 school days of this deadline). Appeals not received by the deadline may have to be heard in September.
