Foundation Stage

This is our first blog and we are very excited to share with you what we have been learning. This half term in the Early Years we have been reading some traditional tales. We started with the story of 'The Little Red Hen' and the children retold this story in lots of different ways. We then read' Rosie's Walk' by Pat Hutchins and recreated this by going on our own walk around the school. We drew maps, planned routes and talked about the meanings of the different prepositions we would have to use to tell our story. We also made baskets to collect eggs and looked at the number of eggs an egg box could hold. We found different ways to make 6 and 12 and some children have explored doubling. We will be uploading some clips of the children telling their 'Reception Walk' stories very soon.

Meanwhile we have had our own little eggs keeping warm in an incubator from Acorn Farm. We have been watching the eggs carefully and have been counting the days until they hatch.

We have also read the story of 'The Three Little Pigs' and 'The Billy Goat's Gruff' to prepare us for our visit from Acorn Farm.

Check back soon to see the photos of our learning this half term. In the meantime why not take a look at all the fun we had in the snow! We built snowmen, wrote snow poems and danced like snowflakes in the snow! Our pictures can be seen in the gallery.
