Summer Term in Year 3

Date: 24th Apr 2015 @ 12:34pm

Year 3 have had a very busy week preparing for our class assembly. The children have all worked very hard to learn their words and practise their fabulous performances! The Spanish dancers in particular have had a lot of fun choreographing dances with Mrs Powell!

Also this week, we have started our topic on Ancient Egypt. Thanks to the wonderful research from a couple of class members, we all now know about the mummification process! We're looking forward to making our own life size version of a mummy in class. The children have explored hieroglyphics in class and have all written their own hieroglyphic codes for the teachers to decipher. Some are very challenging!

Don't forget that next Thursday, 30th April, is Year 3's class assembly. We can't wait to show you the exciting journey we have been on so far in Year 3.

We have had an exciting week this week learning all about play scripts. The children have throughly enjoyed getting into character to act out the plays and I think everybody enjoyed playing Shrek and Donkey on Monday! As the weather has brightened up, we have made the most of it by sharing our favourite books with friends outside. It was a great opportunity to a little bit more research on Ancient Egypt before our class quiz!

Year 3 have continued with their designs for our garden area this week. After voting on their favourite design for the whole space, they started to discuss ideas for particular aspects of it in more detail. They are now working on designing a mosaic using images that reflect our school. There have been some lovely ideas so far! We will continue with this next week and then bring together our favourite images to create a final design.
