Year 5 - Our First Blog

Date: 23rd Nov 2015 @ 5:39pm

In Computing this half term, Year 5 have been learning about 'blogging.' The children have been looking at what makes a good blog and have had a go at creating their own blog post for our school website. So without further ado, here are some of our first blogs written by Year 5.

In Year Five we have been learning about Charlie and The Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. We’ve really enjoyed it so far!  It is very interesting and fabulous. Mr Wonka  is my favourite character, closely followed by Augustus Gloop. The easiest way to describe him is… FAT! Simple and easy… FAT! Veruca Salt is just WANT WANT  WANT  and every time she gets it! Year Five want to thank the squirrels for getting rid of her . Violet Beauregarde, I don’t know why she is so violet? She even keeps her gum behind her left ear… disgusting! Finally, little Charlie Bucket is so kind yet so unfortunate but not for much longer. (Spoiler Alert)

Miss Laverick is giving out golden tickets and we cannot wait to see what is waiting for us at the golden gates on the 1st of December. In our next blog we shall let you know.

Thank you for reading our blog.

Maths Blog

In maths we have learnt all about fractions and division. In our journals we have been writing different method’s  such as the formal written method , the grid method  and the bus stop method for division. Today we did some work on fractions in our journals.

This term Year Five have been reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. We have designed our own chocolate bars and we have written descriptions about our favourite characters. We have some of our own special Wonka Golden Tickets. If you get one of them something AMAZING will happen on the 1st of December. I bet it will be really exiting. We have made our own rooms for Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. We have been reading the book and we have just found out that Violet Beauregarde has eaten a piece of gum that has made her blow up like a blueberry balloon. In case you have not watched the film or read the book then there are the five golden ticket winners: Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde, Mike Teavee, Augustus Gloop and Charlie Bucket. We cannot wait to see what is going to happen on our chocolate factory adventure.

This is just a snippet of the wonderful work the children have been producing in Year Five. There will be more to follow.

Thank you for reading and we hope you have enjoyed our first blog! From Year Five
