Jack and the Beanstalk

Date: 26th Jan 2016 @ 10:46am

The children have been taking part in some really exciting activities this week related to our story Jack and the Beanstalk. The climbing frame in the Reception outdoor area was transformed into a castle for the giant to live in. There were all sorts of markets stalls for Jack to sell his cow to. In the water tray the children explored milking a cow by pouring white water into rubber gloves with holes in the fingers. The children tried on an enormous pair of boots and printed giant footsteps. They also programmed bee bots to visit different parts of the story on a large story map. We planted magic beans and we are waiting to see if a giant beanstalk will grow. They also had the opportunity to taste a variety of beans like mange tout and broad beans. The children could make harps using various junk materials. It has been a lovely week, especially hearing the children pretending to be the giant and bellowing "Fe fi fo fum!"
